History: Saint Robert was born at
Monte Pulciano, Tuscany, in 1542. He entered the Society of Jesus at Rome and
was ordained a priest. He engaged in important debates in defense of the
Catholic faith and taught theology at the Roman College. After being made
cardinal and named bishop of Capua, he worked in the Roman Congregations on
numerous questions of the day. He died at Rome in 1621. His feast is celebrated on
September 17th.1
