Saint Angela Merici

Virgin

History:  Saints Angela was born in 1470 in Desenzano in the territory of Lombardy. She took the habit of the Third Order of Saint Francis and called together the girls whom she instructed in charitable works. In 1535, under the patronage of Saint Ursula, she founded at Brescia a congregation of women who instructed poor girls in the Christian life. Saint Angela died in 1540. Her feast is celebrated on January 27th.

Prayer:
Lord, may Saint Angela commend us to your mercy; may her charity and wisdom help us to be faithful to your teaching and to follow it in our lives. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
