Lord, we stand before You speechless, unable to comprehend
the tragedy that has struck our nation, or the reasons for so much senseless
violence. We stand humbly before the mystery of Your holy will.We
pray for the many victims of this tragedy, and for their families.
Lord, bring them healing and comfort in their hour of grief.
We pray for all the people of our nation. Lord, help us to be
peacemakers rather than to seek vengeance. Help us to transform the
anger in our hearts, so that we may not become like those who committed this
violence.
We remember, Lord, that You have commanded us to love our enemies, and to
pray for our persecutors. And so we pray for the perpetrators of these
terrible acts. Transform their hearts of stone, O Lord, into hearts of
flesh.
Lord, our faith has been shaken. Still, we stand before You today
and say:
We believe. We believe.
Amen.
