Pennies for Peace Update

     The young disciples who were part of the Faith Formation Summer Institute participated in the incredibly popular “Pennies for Peace” contest during both weeks of the Summer Institute (as noted in last week’s bulletin). Proceeds of the PENNIES FOR PEACE project will be given to the Thea Bowman Center-an inner city ministry serving many of the poorest and most disenfranchised people living in the Diocese of Cleveland, in relationship with Epiphany Parish and St. Cecelia’s Parish. The Vibrant Parish Life Clustering Process has newly engaged the Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in the life-saving, life-changing ministries provided at the Thea Bowman Center. The Pennies For Peace project grew from this emerging relationship and a powerful belief within the parish community that our call to serve and care invites us to grow in our connection to the Thea Bowman Center community. We are extremely proud to announce that grades 1-5 raised a total of $1569.94. Grades 6-12 raised $1504.90 by the end of their week. Our total Summer Institute contribution to the work of the Thea Bowman Center will total, then, $3,074.84. What a miraculously beautiful gift! THANK YOU to all who supported this competition and this ministry.

Summer Institute Thanks

     Many, many thanks to everyone who helped make the Faith Formation Summer Institute 2008 our most amazing and successful year ever! Nearly 225 students gathered to be formed, informed and transformed in two fast-paced, intensive weeks of faith formation. Please see the bulletin insert for lots more news, information and reviews of the Summer Institute’s many celebratory moments!

     I would like to thank you all for the many prayers, cards, etc. that I received during my recent surgery. The new knee will enable me to do more miles of ushering at church and handing out the church bulletins. God bless you all.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
